(More customer reviews)I purchased the HP Officejet J4580 All In One Printer which included a color and this black cartridge. After about 120 pages, the machine displayed that I was almost out of black ink and had ¾ of color ink left. This made sense as I usually print text documents only. For the last week, it showed I was completely out of black ink, but I was still able to print about 15 more black text sheets. I imagine it will totally stop printing any text instead of fading out.I was already aware that most printers will use up a lot of black ink and some will suck it dry within a few weeks. It's difficult to gauge ink usage, as it pertains to what you are printing, how much you are printing and the amount of color vs. black ink.
For the price and what I was able to print out, I'm fairly satisfied. However, this ink in not readily available in stores (i.e., Best Buy), so you need to buy on-line. Printers are less expensive than ten years ago, so these companies make money on ink purchases. Still, it's cheaper than spending 5 cents a copy at a copy store, especially when using color.
