(More customer reviews)I have had printers since 1996 and still cannot believe the mark up on these cartridges. At these prices, one could just buy a new printer after 2 refill expenses. A new printer comes with the small cartridges yet at the price of the printer complete boxed set, it seems rediculous not to consider just replacing the printer at some point.
I have refilled HP cartridges and refilling them is just fine. The only secret is when to refill the tank. If you wait till the black tank is no longer printing, you've already burnt up the print head so that one would be trash. Refill them when they reach about 20% full and they work fine.
Ink tanks are too pricey in mho. That's why folks are selling refill kits, remanufactured cartridges etc. The reman's should be used right away during any warranty period since the print head could be damaged. If there's an issue, at elast you could return it for a repl or refund etc.
FYI, I went for the Canon Pixma recently since I can now just simply look at the tanks, see the ink level and do as needed. Those tanks are independent of the print head so, easy to refill or simply replace them for about half of the HP's.
