(More customer reviews)We have the earlier model D680 which is very similar to the D780. The D680 also copies at 16 pages/min and may be used as a printer and fax. Our office uses it mainly as a copier. It is not the fastest but no problems in three years of 5x8 use. Occasionally we use the fax capability when our dedicated fax machine conks out. The D680 uses the same toner cartridge as the D780 and the newer D880. We have to replace the cartridge every month or two. The L50 cartridges can be expensive. We get ours from InfinityImaging.com or Provantage.com.

The Canon imageCLASS D780 is a heavy-duty multi-purpose solution designed for the everyday needs of any small to medium-sized businesses or workgroups. This digital laser copier offers 16 cpm copying at 1,200 x 600 dpi, as well as 16 ppm printing and fax functionality.
Canon's specialty is copy technology, so that's where the D780's strength lies. Diverse paper handling offers three choices--a 500-sheet front-loading cassette for everyday use, a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray for specialty projects, and a 30-sheet document feeder for custom media and individual jobs.
The D780 lets you print directly from your PC, offering both USB and parallel interfaces (optional networking available). Print features include 2 MB of print memory, up to 16 ppm print speeds, and resolutions of up to 2,400 x 600 dpi. Fax features include a built-in 33.6 kbps fax modem with 3 seconds per page transmission speed, up to 225 page transmission memory, up to 406 x 392 dpi fax resolution, 12 speed dials, 100 coded speed dials, and more.
