(More customer reviews)I do low voltage work as a side project and bought this because I needed something but didn't want to drop the big $$ on a high-end toner or risk an eBay disaster.
That being said, this does the job. In basic scenarios where you're not dealing with big bundles of wire then it's pretty easy to find the cable you're looking for, but I've also run into situations where it identified more than one cable with the same intensity on the probe. At that point it's trial and error and that kind of sucks.
If you're looking for wire behind drywall, this probably won't help. In the case of a single layer of 5/8" drywall, if your wire isn't within an inch of it then you won't find it. Either the transmitter isn't powerful enough or the probe isn't sensitive enough. Maybe my expectations here were unrealistic.
But at the end of the day this doesn't cost that much and I certainly can't say it doesn't deliver value.
