(More customer reviews)I recommended this product to a client who needed to get away from online backups and backup locally on their network. What a horrendous product - first, the desktop mirror feature slows down the customer's PC to a barely unuseable state - mind you the customer has Windows 7 Premium on a Dell desktop running an Intel i5-750 processor and 4gbs of ram.
Whenever desktop mirror runs, which is virtually all the time, the PC becomes so slow and unuseable (every app or window goes (Not Responding). The customer needs to backup several pcs and this has become an unworkable solution.
Second, in order to use more than 3 pcs .. you have to pay an additional fee for premium upgrade. The product stinks as is backing up one computer ... why would you pay more for the privilige of backing up more than 3 computers.
Customer service is slow to get in the queue. They make you troubleshoot your computer when it is obvious that the Netgear software is at fault.The desktop runs very fast when you remove the Netgear software.
The front bezel keeps falling off ... very cheap plastic.
Garbage! This is the second Netgear product that I have either used or recommended to my own peril. The first was a Netgear N-Router with known power failure issues ... I've gone back to using Linksys - although more expensive ... they are more reliable and the customer support is better.
I basically gave the customer $200 back and have been using this box as a door stop.
