(More customer reviews)Just completed my first ink refill of the black ink. 3 months on just what came in the tank!!! I would have bought at least 3 black cartridges in that same time. So this is a definite money saver. If the printer companies truly wanted to offer a valuable product, it would come with a tank ink system. But they are too greedy making all the money off of the ink cartridges.
Installation was very very easy. I have a L7780, so the cartridges came out, and the new ones with the tubes went in. Run through a few cleaning cycles, and all is working on the new ink. I did not need to use the little rubber wedge to trick the printer into thinking the cartridge door was closed. Mine closed fine over the hoses, with no pressure on the hoses.
Every once in a while, (~ every two weeks...) the printer will decide that all the cartridges are missing or damaged. Simply power off and power on (you should ALWAYS leave your printer powered on) and it magically finds the cartridges and thinks they are all full.
We also just purchased a wide-format printer, and I insisted we buy one that uses the same cartridges, so we could use a tank system on that one too.
The Good parts:
- You save a ton of money, seriously, the cost of the tank is paid back in about 1 week. It comes filled with ink!!! This is at least $300 worth of cartridge ink.
- It is SO easy to install. Do not think it will be a hassle, or that you will spill ink. You won't.
- You can see exactly how much ink you have left. You can order more ink in plenty of time, or if you have a choice, use colors that you have more of.
- Refilling ink is SO easy. Just pull out the stopper, and squeeze in another 3-6 months worth of ink. (just don't take the little seal out of the nozzle cap on the bottle. it needs to stay in)
- The ink quality is the same or better than the cartridges. Don't worry about sub-par ink. This is quality stuff.
The bad parts:
- at present, as far as I can tell, you must buy a set of ink bottles. So you will end up with extra bottles of ink you don't use as much. The good news is that all 4 bottles cost the same as 1 or 2 ink cartridges! Each bottle is about 10 cartridges worth. so that's a 40 to 1 or 2 savings.
- Like I said before, you must power cycle the printer about every 2 weeks to clear the occasional ink cartridge error.
So this is a no brainer. If you have a compatible printer, this is a necessity!
