Xerox Phaser 6115MFP/D Multi-Function Color Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax Review

Xerox Phaser 6115MFP/D Multi-Function Color Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of the reasons I purchased this device is that it is a Xerox.
The machine itself is good quality. The chassis is heavy, and, the glass, feeder, document trays, etc., are all of reasonably good quality.
One of the real plusses to buying Xerox is that a real, English speaking human being answers the phone when you have a technical question. Their technical support is excellent (compared to other manufacturers like HP). This alone makes it worth the while to purchase Xerox.
I had a problem installing the TWAIN driver for this. In a half an hour I had a knowledgable technician on the line through their 800 number. The problem was resolved in ten to twenty minutes with proper support documentation and downloads available on line.
Why only 3 stars? This is one of the most difficult MFP devices (I have four of them) I have had to operate. It is not as difficult as an HP, but, it is, like an HP, so touchy as to require constant paper unjamming, constant references to the manual for error codes, constant power downs to reboot to get it out of indecipherable things it doesn't like about the ink supply, or the paper supply, or the paper adjustment, or the hundreds of software switches necessary to get it to print.
Like many devices out there, this one has no mercy on the user. If you don't do everything exactly right, you will end up either spending hours with the manual trying to figure out the error codes and how to fix it, or, you will spend 5 minutes per task powering it down to clear the error codes and get it back to step one so you can use it. Five minutes of powering down and powering back up just to make a copy is grossly unacceptable in any office.
THANK GOD it has an on off switch so that you can back out of its many, many, many error situations.
The printing quality was excellent, but, on envelopes, it so badly creased the envelopes running it through the rollers that we couldn't use it for printing envelopes as they looked too beat up after being through the machine for ordinary printing.
After about a year of very, very light use, the machine displayed a "service call" error message and completely stopped functioning.
Just try to find someone to fix one of these. There isn't anyone qualified, and, often the parts and labor can be as much as a new machine itself.
It is now a throwaway sitting in my office because we can't get anyone to fix it.
MANY bucks down the drain.
Nevertheless, because of the technical support I bought another Xerox 6180 MFP and, keep your fingers crossed, so far it is working fine.
I would stay away from this model because of its unreliability, counter-intuitive operating procedures, and, the incredible rarity of people who can fix it.

HP OfficeJet 6110 All-in-One Multifunction Review

HP OfficeJet 6110 All-in-One Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 6110 seems to offer the best of several worlds. It is a flatbed scanner/copier AND has a sheet-fed attachment that allows you to scan or fax up to 35 copies at a time. This product is much better than I anticipated. The included software has worked flawlessly for me (surprise, because I use a Mac running OS X), automatically inserting scanned items in to the program of my choice, and giving the user several helpful options for copying and faxing. It copies and faxes without requiring the computer, in color as well as B/W. It's quiet, a pleasant surprise, after reading about some other HP all-in-ones. It has been sold in Europe for a while, but only recently arrived in the states. Printing resolution is equal or superior to the HP 970 series printer that I previously owned.
Cons - The 6110 does not have slots to read memory sticks and other similar photo image storage devices. If that's a need, consider some of HP's other products, like the D series, or the 2110. You'll pay at least $...more for the photo slots plus the sheet feeder on a flat-bed. I didn't need them, preferring to download photos through USB.
And one final bonus, for me at least. The duplexer that came with my previous 970 is the same one that fits the 6110. So now I have two-sided printing (big paper saver) AND didn't have to shell out $... more for it.
Really happy with this purchase.

Canon Pixma MP190 All-In-One Photo Printer (2910B002) Review

Canon Pixma MP190 All-In-One Photo Printer (2910B002)

Every thing about this printer is perfect for my use except the printer's unbelieveable thirst for ink. I don't print photos but it's almost as if I can hear the ink being sucked away. At roughly $40 a refill, it may become too expensive.
I've had the printer just over a month and had to refill. December was a high use time because I was printing 2009 calendars, with lots of color, and with preview copies, probably ran more than 100 pages. Very fine quality printing but whoooosh! ink's gone.

HP Color LaserJet 4550 Printer Review

HP Color LaserJet 4550 Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I printed a lot of photos with my old 895cse printer, and they looked great, but the ink could smear and it took forever. I recently bought this printer, and it is fantastic, clean and crisp prints... and full color in the same time it takes to print a text page, about 20 seconds. And you don't have to replace the cartridge every other week, so far it's been 3 months and I haven't changed the toner yet. I say if you can afford this now, it will pay off in the long run.

Canon ImageClass D780 Personal Digital Copier, Printer, Fax Review

Canon ImageClass D780 Personal Digital Copier, Printer, Fax

(More customer reviews)
We have the earlier model D680 which is very similar to the D780. The D680 also copies at 16 pages/min and may be used as a printer and fax. Our office uses it mainly as a copier. It is not the fastest but no problems in three years of 5x8 use. Occasionally we use the fax capability when our dedicated fax machine conks out. The D680 uses the same toner cartridge as the D780 and the newer D880. We have to replace the cartridge every month or two. The L50 cartridges can be expensive. We get ours from InfinityImaging.com or Provantage.com.

Samsung CLP-610ND Color Laser Printer Review

Samsung CLP-610ND Color Laser Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this mail order from New Egg, not Amazon, but I wanted to review it here among other review sites in order to help others.
First, this printer is my third laser printer over the last 12 years. The first laser I owned was for college. It was a nice, small Okidata. It performed very well.
My second laser was a Samsung 1430, which I still have today and it still prints excellently.
My third laser was the 610ND. Everything this printer says it does, it does, such as printing 21+ pages per minute in both mono and color. The color is unbelievable right out of the box. I used Adobe 1998 for a profile and sent the image at 600DPI (which is the 610's native format) to the printer. The colors were near exact matches to the screen, and as a professional photographer, I have my 23 LCD hardware calibrated. Of course the colors aren't as vibrant as an inkjet or as smooth, but for plain paper 20lb, they are very excellent. The contrast between colors and shades is smooth and I see no banding or streaking. ON top of that, you can also adjust each color's saturation and contrast, among other settings that allow you to dial in the color matching for your screen.
Text is very sharp down to 3 points. The printer is easily set up in less than 10 minutes, including software installation. There are two pieces of software: (1) The driver and (2) The interface software. The interface software allows you to set the printer settings from your computer. Alternately, you can set the same settings on the printers front LCD panel.
I bought this printer exclusively to print tear sheet on plain paper, quickly and anytime I need them, to show models and clients possible poses and to give them ideas about the shoot. Sure, I could have used an inkjet, but inkjets don't shine on plain paper--nor do they duplex and that saves paper. This laser printer does both duplex and prints nicely on plain paper. I was thinking about fast printing and doing it cheaply. It also does card stock up to 48 lbs, cards, envelops, etc, all in color, (plus you get laser sharp text). You also get built in DUPLEX printing, which means you can print on the front and back of the paper automatically.
This brings me to my only problem, and why I will need to return the unit to New Egg. When duplex printing, one of the sides of the paper will have incorrect margins. So one page will print with say 1/2" margins all around, whereas the other side will be offset left and top.
Samsung tech support was pretty fast, about a 2-4 minute wait. A tier two tech asked me a few questions and said it was a hardware problem. They wanted to send a repair tech to my house, which is included in the warranty (14 months if you return the warranty card)--which was good. However, it's only 3 days old! So I told them to hold on to my ticket and let me see how much of a hassle it would be to get New Egg to send me a new one.
New Egg said it was no problem, but I'd need all of the original items plus the original packaging. So I said if you are missing one item that came in the box, or the box itself, the warranty is voided? The CSR rep said pretty much that was true for returns. She explained that Samsung requires those stipulations. So I said that was cool I needed to talk to their manager because it doesn't say anything about that on their warranty page, and that I was going to post our conversation all over the internet, like I'm doing now.
So she said she would check again to see if she could do it just this one time. About 30 seconds later she had the "ok," but said I needed all of the items including the text pages or I would not get a refund. So I dug it all out of the trash for them. Furthermore, they will not cross ship the items. They want me to repurchase the same unit and they will credit my card for the return.
I then asked her if I could buy another unit and when it arrives simply use that units box. She said no because each box has the units serial number on it. This sounded strange to me because the UPS box I'll be sending it back in will not have the serial number either. So it sounded like I was getting somewhat of a run around from New Egg--which you WOULD NOT get from Amazon. On the other hand, she explained that if they return the unit to Samsung with a box that does not match the unit's serial number, they would not refund it for them. Who knows? I initially wanted to buy it from Amazon, but New Egg beat Amazon's price by 100.00US at 299.00. (Sorry Amazon)
Other than the unit not working in duplex mode out of the box, I was very impressed with this printer. I can't see anyone not being satisfied with this printer if you like what it advertises it can do--which it does do, including print speeds and excellent color.
Oh yes, it is network ready also, or you can use a USB cord for single computer use.
UPDATE: 05/07/08
I had a feeling that Samsung Tech Support didn't do a very good job trouble shooting my problem, so I ran through my own trouble shooting steps. I cleared the printer settings and set them back to factory default. This set the margins for duplex printing at 5mm each for left and top. This time it printed with the image perfectly in the center of the page on both pages. I have no idea if there really is a problem using duplex margins or not, but it would seem more intuitive if "0" meant no offset. As it is, 5mm on both equals no offset. So now the printer is completely functional, and I tested more high DPI photo images. The color and smoothness across high contrast images is truly remarkable.

Canon PIXMA MP800 All In One Photo Printer Review

Canon PIXMA MP800 All In One Photo Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the mp800 to replace my Lexmark X-85 "INK GOBBLER" because I got tired of not being able to refill the ink successfully and paying through the nose for replacement ink cartridges. The Lex X-85 was over three years old and I was ready for a better printer that new technology had to offer.
I am very pleased with the MP800. It's printing quality and speed is excellent for this caliber of printer. Most of the photos I have printed are on "Jet Print" professional photo paper which has worked well. I have yet to purchase some Canon Photo Paper Pro and try it. I did however print one 4x6 photo from the included pack of Canon Photo Paper Pro that came with the printer. The photo quality was amazing!
Regarding the refilling of the ink cartridges: I purchased the 5 ink refill kit from re-inks.com for $60.00. the kit has enough ink for about 12 refills of per cartridge.
The printer is smart enough to know that you are using refilled ink cartridges but it allows you to continue with a warning that Canon may not be responsible for damage.
once you get past the warning the printer asks you to press the stop/reset button for 5 seconds and the printer will continue to print using the refilled cartridge but when you view the Ink Status Monitor it shows the ink tank level as empty.
So in the future you will have to manually remove the cartridge to view it's ink quality. This is easy to do because Canon's ink tanks are Clear Plastic!
This simple reset procedure is required each time the printer detects a refilled cartridge. I suspect that once all 5 cartridges have been "released" from ink detection, it might not ask you again to go through the reset process again. I haven't got there yet. Thanks canon for leaving the Ink Refill Door Open! Hope this info helps. Scott

The advanced PIXMA MP800 Photo All-In-One delivers spectacular Print Copy-Scan performance. It produces an amazing resolution of up to 9,600 x 2,400 color dpi, for remarkable detail and clarity. To achieve this, Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a next-generation 3,584-nozzle print head that ejects precise, consistent droplets as small as one picoliter. The result? Smoother, virtually grain-free images. Also, our ContrastPLUS five-color ink system--four dye-based inks and a pigment-based black ink--produces true-life photos with a wide color palette, along with laser-quality text. What about speed? A 4"x 6" photo lab quality borderless photo takes approximately 36 seconds.
When copying, the AE (Auto Exposure) Copy feature automatically optimizes reproduction quality based on the type of original you're duplicating. The convenient Photo/Film buttons allow you to make reprints of your photos and 35mm film without using your computer. And now, scanning: The unit's higher-resolution CCD technology enables you to produce exceptional 2,400-dpi scans, with vibrant 48-bit color depth. You can simultaneously scan up to six frames of 35mm film (negatives or positives), or up to four mounted slides. Plus, advanced paper handling features are built in - such as two paper trays and two-sided printing.
Want to evaluate and enhance your images before printing? Just insert your compatible memory card into one of the built-in card slots, then select the images on the extra-large 3.5" LCD color viewer. As needed, images will be automatically enhanced for red eye, sharpness and brightness values, or you can fine tune the images yourself using the easy control panel. Then, print directly from the memory card! As an option, you can print directly from a PictBridge-ready device such as a digital camera.
The Canon ChromaLife100 system combines the PIXMA MP800 Photo All-In-One's FINE print head technology and newly developed inks with select Canon photo papers, with results rivaling that of many conventional photos. And with the new smart LED ink tanks, your LED lamp flashes when ink is running low, and flashes even faster when nearing empty.

Canon PC425 Personal Copier Review

Canon PC425 Personal Copier
Average Reviews:

If you aren't looking for a volume printer, just one to make those misc copies at home, this printer fits the bill. I previously owned a Xerox personal copier that I had for many years and it died, and I figured that it would cost more to fix it than to just purchase a new one. Once you have a copier at home you can't do without, so I did quite an extensive search on the internet, and this was the cheapest that I found. The nicest feature is that you can turn it on and instantly make copies, because you don't have to wait for it to warmup....that's great for those single copies you want to quickly make on the run. I also like being able to make copies from books, which you can't make from your fax machine. The kids copy their chapters for homework and use those copies to travel with on weekends instead of dragging their entire load of books along. For ..., this printer is worth it. I have not had any problems with it so far.

HP PSC 2175 Multifunction Review

HP PSC 2175 Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Excellent printer. After some comparison shopping, I found this printer was the best value for the price.
It's an "all-in-one" device that does printing, scanning and coping (color or black/white). It hooks up to your PC or notebook.
The print quality is excellent, especially for photos (I was pleasantly surprised with the incredible quality of the color photos - you'll be able to print color photos just as good as the camera store)
The copier is excellent and I especially like the fact it's a "flat-bed" style copier/scanner. There are some Copiers that only let you copy a piece of paper, but this device is like a normal office copy machine (but much, much smaller) where you can lift the lid up and place a book on top of it, which is useful if you need to copy a page from a book you own, like your cookbook or hiking book. I can now keep my cookbook in good condition and don't have to carry a heavy hiking or touring book on a trip - I just bring a copy of the pages I need for a trip. I recently found this very useful when touring a city. In fact, it was so useful that I'm going to look into eBooks for my iPAQ for trips. With this printer, you can scan a page from a hardcopy book in order to get it into your hand-held (by scanning it into your PC and then moving it to your hand-held). Though I would prefer to buy eBooks software for my iPAQ that has this information organized like a library.
The scanner works very well. It's especially useful if you want to scan something important into your PC to save forever. I tend to collect a lot of papers, so this scanner really helps me cut down on the amount of space I'm was using to save hardcopy papers. This scanner lets me toss out papers I would normally be saving, so no more growing heaps of piles of papers on my desk. I scan papers into my PC for storage and then toss the paper out.
The unit is conveniently small, and yet it can copy up to A4 size paper (which is larger than legal paper). Sizewise, it fits nicely on my small one-drawer filing cabinet where I used to keep my LaserJet 6L, and there's still room for my large conferencing phone.
Now that I have a copier, I no longer have to run to work or Kinko's to make a copy of my tax forms. Too many times I've left important personal papers at our copier at work (embarrassing!)
After buying the product, I discovered it has a really neat feature that I now use all the time: it supports four different types of memory cards (CompactFlash, SD, SmartMedia, and Memory Stick.)
I have a digital camera and an HP iPAQ 2215, which both use CompactFlash card. This means, I can take my CompactFlash card from either my camera or iPAQ and pop it into the printer and print photos without bothering with the PC. It's fast & easy. I really like it.
My iPAQ 2215 acts like a portable photoalbumn sometimes, so it's nice to be able to print photos out by simply popping the CompactFlash card into the printer. This printer is a great gift for your Mom & Dad if they like to get a lot of photos from you. When you visit your parents, you can show them your photos stored on your iPAQ and print out the ones they want by popping the compact flash into the printer. It's as easy as that and it's photo quality too.
You can upload your photos from either an iPAQ or camera to your PC by simply popping the compact flash into the printer and pressing Scan to PC. I find this useful when I want to have a large view of my photos stored on my iPAQ - I move them to my PC from the iPAQ by popping the compact flash into the printer. I find this easier than hooking my camera up to the PC (where the photos originate.) (I don't always have my camera plugged into my PC, so find it easier to pop the CompactFlash into the printer rather than hooking up the camera.)
It's a very easy printer to use and to install - just pop the CD in and click "okay" and plug in the cord.
A few small things I wish it had (though, no other printers on the market seem to have this either, so it's minor): I wish I could plug my Creative Labs camera directly into the front of the printer. I also wish iPAQ 2215 could plug directly into the front of the printer so I could print the photos or files directly stored on my iPAQ. (But this isn't critical because I can do it anyway by just popping the iPAQ's compactflash into the printer). But one thing I wish it had: I would love to be able to plug a Memory ThumbDrive (by USB2) into the front of the printer in order to directly print photos stored on the ThumbDrive. (A thumbdrive is a tiny stick that fits onto a key chain - you can plug into any PC by a USB2 connection - it's like a miniature, portable hard drive.) Basically, all three of these ideas would involve HP designing a USB2 input into the front of their printers (something I would think they could easily do, but for some reason, no printer on the market does this yet.) These three ideas are items no printer seems to do, so it's minor. And I can print from my ThumbDrive by simply plugging it into my PC or laptop.
After doing comparison shopping, I found this all-in-one printer, copier, and scanner to be the best device on the market and it's very inexpensive for all you get. I'm really happy with this product and just love it!
This is an excellent printer, copier, and scanner - you can't go wrong with it.
Hope my comments have been informative.

Canon PIXMA iP6310D Photo Inkjet Printer (Gray) Review

Canon PIXMA iP6310D Photo Inkjet Printer (Gray)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent all-around printer for those who aren't too demanding in their choice of quality printers. It's perfect for the average family person who just needs the convenience and ease of printing what was shot with the digital camera over the weekend. Don't get me wrong - the output of the final results are quite impressive (especially now that it's under $60), but for those who have a more demanding eye for perfection and need more 'professional' results, this may not be the printer for you. For instance, I was originally going to purchase the new iP6700D which is touted as an ideal printer for the digital SLR user, with higher resolution and number of nozzles compared to the iP6310D. However, if you don't want the hassle of changing and maintaining 6 individual ink tanks at approximately $14 apiece, this iP6310D is probably the route you want to take, as it only has two inkjet tanks (approx $25 apiece) to worry about, yet has the 6 colors (3 grouped in each tank) like some of the more costly models.
Overall, I'm really satisfied with this printer, especially for the price, and the quality of the printed product. My only tip is, use the "Vivid Photo" option under printer settings to get more vibrant color.

The Canon PIXMA iP6310D Photo Inkjet Printer is an extremely user friendly, efficient printer designed to meet all your photo printing needs in one compact, stylish unit. This printer lets you print photos directly from compatible memory cards and digital cameras -- with automatic adjustments for face brightening and red-eye -- and even from Bluetooth devices using the optional adapter. Whatever your needs, the single function iP6310D gives you more choices, more features and a better value. In addition, this printer features a unique cutting edge design that is very much in line with today's tastes and styles. It also fits comfortably on a desktop and adds a sleek and stylish element to any decor. There's no need to waste time and money finding somewhere to print your photos. With the iP6310D you can immediately print and enjoy images in the comfort of your own home. Convenience and Versatility The iP6310D is a six-color photo printer that features Canon's ChromaLife100 ink system. Convenient and versatile, the iP31D supports a number of direct photo printing capabilities including select memory cards, digital cameras, DV camcorders, camera phones and other PictBridge ready devices. It also offers a maximum of 4800 by 1200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution with microscopic ink droplets as small as two picoliters. In fact, it can create a borderless 4 x 6 inch photo lab quality print in approximately a minute, as well as other popular sizes, from wallet to 8.5 x 11 inch size prints. The iP6310D also delivers fast print speeds of up to 60 seconds for 4 x 6 borderless photos and less than two minutes for 8 x 10 inch photos. ChromaLife100 Technology For Image Permanence The iP6310D uses Canon's ChromaLife100 system, including FINE print head technology for great photo printing. When using select genuine Canon photo papers and inks, prints can resist fading for up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album. The 100-year-lifespan rivals that of many traditional film based photos, long considered by consumers to be the benchmark for image permanence. Prints produced on Canon Photo Paper Pro with ChromaLife100 inks also have an up to 10-year gas fastness when exposed to open air. In addition, ChromaLife100 prints, when created using Canon Photo Paper Pro or Photo Paper Plus Glossy, have up to a 30-year light fastness when displayed under glass. Launched globally by Canon in 1999, the Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) advanced print head technology is one of the keys to the impressive speed and high photo quality in the iP6310D. FINE technology uses a ground-breaking high-performance, multi-nozzle print engine that ejects consistent and microscopic ink droplets. The results are high-resolution photos with great detail and clarity in less time. The iP6310D is the ideal printer when you want to print great photos, but still keep things simple. The iP6310D comes with a one-year limited warranty. What's in the Box Pixma iP6310D photo printer, cartridges (CL-41 color, CL-52 photo), power cord, easy setup instructions, document kit (setup instructions and user's guide CD-ROM, quick start guide, registration card, and cross sell sheet).

Brother® MFC-8640D Laser Flatbed All-in-One Duplex Review

Brother® MFC-8640D Laser Flatbed All-in-One Duplex
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Great printer. Duplexing is great. Feeder is great, and really good quality. I got a great price for it and have been happily printing away for months. Drums are pricey, but the toner last a long Time (even more if you put black tape over the "eye" of the toner cartridge so the printer will keep printing until ink is really all gone (approximately 1,500 more pages--That was a REALLY deceptive trick Brother). Only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the network card which you buy to upgrade it to wireless is sometimes tricky. It will stop working for reasons unknown. I'll turn the printer off and most of the time within a few hours the network card will reset itself and we can wireless print again by changing the IP address. No idea why it does that.
Otherwise, highly recommend.

Lexmark E321 Laser Printer (21S0150) Review

Lexmark E321 Laser Printer (21S0150)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Lexmark e321 is fast and cheap, but those are the only good things about this diabolically mediocre piece of engineering. It's unsuitable for high-volume printing because it lacks a large paper capacity, so you're constantly feeding this thing paper. Worse, if you don't put the paper in exactly right it grabs three or four sheets at a time and jams up fairly regularly. The text is poor to passable but figures are murky. Personally I don't think the few bucks you might save are worth all the hassle and inconvenience that come with such a sub-par product. Undying, everlasting hatred does not sum up the extent to which I loathe the Lexmark E321.

HP DeskJet 6127 Color Printer Review

HP DeskJet 6127 Color Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I thought long and hard about whether to give 4 stars or 5. I decided on 4 only because I'm not thrilled with the print area of this machine; always a half inch at the bottom no matter what. All other aspects are terrific. It is fast, quiet, and the duplexer is so very neat that you find yourself looking for things to print. And when I say fast, I do mean fast; in draft mode, the 6127 prints good quality at a remarkable rate. At "fast normal", the speed and quality are better than my old Epson Stylus 740. "Normal and Best" modes are slower, but still impressive. The addition of the 250 sheet paper tray would allow loading 2 different paper types, but it is quite expensive. Overall, I am very happy with this printer and would recommend it to anyone interested in a good buy.

Lexmark C534N Color Laser Printer Review

Lexmark C534N Color Laser Printer

This is a grand price for a color laser printer and all but the price of the toner cartridges makes this less of a deal when it comes time to refill. I found them anywhere from $136 - $190. If you aren't a high use user, your cartridges will last for a year or two at a time but to replace the four colors is $600-800.

Samsung SCX-4016 Flatbed Laser Multifunction Review

Samsung SCX-4016 Flatbed Laser Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just received SCX-4016 from Amazon.com for two days. Because I have an HP ScanJet scanner and heard that SCX-4016 scan function is not that great, I only use copy and print functions. Laser printing quality is good and is truely 600DPI. Copying is also ok. Toner came from the box is just the same after market SCX-4216D3/XAA (you should check the toner itself), not a lower graded. Not too big, not too slow (about 10 to 12 page/min).
However, the downsides are,
1. First page of copying comes out slowly. Probably below average waiting as other SOHO copiers. But the multifunction is for my home use and it's not a high volume so this is fine. First page of printing seemed faster.
2. The unit is a little noisy. You will hear a hissing especially at night. But this is still ok to me because I bought a wireless print server and put it to family room.
Though it has two shortcomings till now, consider the price ($274 - $70 rebate = $204), you can hardly find another multifunction with laser printer and flatbed copier...

The Samsung SCX-4016 is a reliable, flatbed monochrome laser MFP (copier/printer/scanner). A true magician of multi tasking, it's ideal for SOHO. As a monochrome laser printer, it offers 4 MB of standard memory, a fast print speed of 17 pages-per-minute, and 600 dpi resolution for superior image quality every time you print. The SCX-4016 accommodates standard paper sizes up through legal. Its flatbed scanner gives you greater versatility in what you can copy and scan. And its adjustable bypass feeder allows for easy printing of varying special media. The SCX-4016 offers a great paper handling 250-sheet input capacity, 150-sheet output, and can scan in color at 4800 dpi in an enhanced mode. There's also the added savings benefit of Samsung's exclusive TonerSave button. When activated, TonerSave mode allows users to increase toner capacity up to 40%. For greater convenience, printer interfaces include both IEEE-1284 parallel and USB 1.1. And as you'd expect from this versatile machine, it's compatible with a wide range of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 95/98/2000/Me/NT4.0/XP. The Samsung SCX-4016 is reliable, versatile, and affordable. It's clearly the smartest choice.
