(More customer reviews)This review goes for the Black as well as the Tri-color refill of this same brand. This product is super simple to use and it does fill your cartridge up for a fraction of the price you'd pay for an original HP ink cartridge.
The down side is that your printer does not give you credit for the work you've done. It still thinks the cartridge is low. Now... if your ink level gets all the way to the bottom and the printer thinks you are out, it will discontinue using that cartridge and refuses to print. I have not figured out a way to reset the levels. The weird thing is that my HP All-in-one F4480 will still make copies, both color or b&w. It just won't print with an "empty" cartridge and it reminds me EVERY time I boot up that my cartridge is supposedly empty.
The other part that I'm not pleased with is that the ink refills do get used up quickly. Perhaps this refill only fills the sponge and not the reservoir? Either way, it requires charging it back up more often.
Lastly, the ink is not as smudge-proof as HP inks. You'll need to give it some dry time (not much). But also, if you write on it with markers / hi-lighters, the ink smears easily.
All in all, based on my experience with this system, I don't believe that these inks are of the same quality as original HP inks. If you wanted to do high quality printing (hi res pictures), I think you should just bite the bullet and get the real thing. This product would be an excellent money saver for everyday, casual printing... if only the printer recognized the cartridge as full. As it is, this high maintenance process that does work, but you have to be careful to refill regularly if you want to keep your cartridges from becoming useless.
I give this product a "So-So" rating. It depends on how much TLC you want to give your printer.
