The carriage in the laser printer is susceptible to breaking if the paper gets jammed or is too thick like in card stock. It can break. It broke once under warranty; it broke a second time outside of warranty.

For professional-quality printing, the Brother HL-1250 laser printer offers crisp 1,200 x 600 dpi graphics resolution and a quick 12 ppm speed. The printer's speed and clarity make it ideal for both business and home printing requirements.
The HL-1250 printer is compatible with Windows and Macintosh systems and has both standard parallel and USB ports (print resolution is 600 x 600 dpi with iMac/G3/G4 using the USB interface). It is powered by a 66 MHz image processing engine to optimize your business text and graphics.
The HL-1250 features two adjustable paper cassettes for demanding workloads and 61 resident fonts for a variety of design options. It prints on letter, legal, and executive stationery, heavy card stock, transparencies, labels, and standard envelopes in several sizes. You can use the face-up output tray, which holds up to 50 sheets, or the face-down output tray, which holds up to 100 sheets. Automatic e-mail printing software is included for convenient printing of e-mail messages at prescheduled times.
